Tagged: child theme plugin
2 questions in one.
1) Is the best time to add a child theme to a site before you have done any design work?
2) If you add the child theme plugin to an existing site, do I have to go back and modify things such as custom headers, menus, widgets, mobile redirects etc?
Hi,
First, you have to check with the designer if the theme is child theme friendly.
Many people thing that there is a bug with the plugin but it most cases the parent theme always loads the files from its folders rather than the child theme’s ones.
1) Yes
2) Yes about the visual stuff because WordPress doesn’t transfer the widgets usually from parent to child theme.
The header and footers should stay but you have to try it to be sure.
