Setting text color in table in child theme

Hi,
I am adapting an existing small handcoded html/css website (for a chess club) to WordPress and have created a child theme to the Forestly theme. I have successfully adapted the child css to display most body text the way I want but cannot find a way of setting the text color of tables. Whatever I do it remains the default Forestly color. I could insert html formatting cell by cell in the old way but that is what I am trying to get away from.

Can anyone advise, please?
